Don't laugh. I want to learn a musical instrument. Any old person can learn piano or guitar, or even the saxophone. I want something different. Something to wow people at parties. Something I can carry around in my pocket. First my thoughts turned to the harmonica. But lot's of people can play those. Not unique enough. My two choice.... the kazoo or the slide whistle.

This is the coolest site ever. Really, even those of you here by accident are going to love this.

You get to draw and make shapes and stamp. That's not so novel, the thing that sets this site apart is that you can draw at the same time as a friend. You can make pictures together. Enter in your friend's email and when they accept you will see two crayons. You can even chat together. Probably would be best to decide on a time beforehand.

This would be a great team building exercise for work. ;) Go check it out.

Good ol' comfy sweatpants. It just doesn't get any better than this..... if you're going for feel alone. Plenty of room, soft fuzzy inside, elastic waste, and oh so cozy. Stress melts away when you slip into your favorite set of sweats. I could live in these things, which brings us tot eh problem. YOU CAN'T WEAR THEM ANYWHERE! I mean ANYWHERE. Not even walmart. Unless you want to look like a total loser. No one looks good in sweatpants. They make you look like a toddler with dirty pjs on. You can only wear them at home when no one's around.

Ahhhhhh, but leggings..... you can wear those. Stretchy, so they feel pretty good. Better than jeans with a too tight wasteband. Plus most peple look semi-presentable in them if the shirt is long enough to cover your patootie.

Winner: Leggings (unless your a man or way overweight)

I think stripes go great with plaid. Especially if I'm wearing crocs. My favorite outfit is an orange and green striped shirt with white background, and purple and brown plaid shorts with small yellow lines through it. And my read crocs over black knee socks.

Ummm really it's not even close.

Scotch tape is great for wrapping presents and fixing ripped book pages, but that's about it. It's kind of wimpy and weak. Anemic looking if you ask me.

Wow! But Duct Tape is like the He-man of tapes. Just pick up a roll and you know you're in for a treat. Fix your ducts, make a prom dress, hold your car together. I bet you could even rescue a drowning puppy with it. Only thing you can't do is fix those ripped pages.

Winner: Duct tape. And, yes, I have wrapped presents with it.

Mail bag (part V): Seesaws vs. teeter-totters

"See-saw" seems to be an eastern term based on my survey of two people from the midwest and far west who call them "teeter-totters." In kindergarten I jumped off the teeter-totter when my end was on the ground. The other rider plunged, the teacher scolded me, and now I think teeter-totters are scary.

What do you call these simple machines: t-totters or s-saws? Why "see-saw?" What's that all about? "I see; you saw???" Do you think that "teeter-totter" sounds kind of wussy?

Golly, a whole blog devoted to video games. What's the latest on Atari? Just kidding.....

It appears to be run by two guys, Brian and Justin, and while the title suggests they are gamers only part time, I don't believe it. From the looks of the blog they do games full time, how else could they come up with so much to say about video games? Oh, BINGO! Looks like things have come a long way since Pac-man and Space Invaders. Gone are the days of a poorly defined pie graph munching trix and mutated jelly fish attacking a chess pawn. No, now you can be a rifle toting white guy shooting diseased Africans. Much more thrilling!

Are you wearing socks with holes in them? When I was a kid, my mom used to sew the holes up, but it left a weird seam over my toes. Ugh!!! Now when I have holes in my socks, I kind of bunch the material together (usually between my big toe and second toe) and stuff my foot into a shoe. After the hole covers two toes, I turn them into dust cloths. Do you think I'm lazy? What do you do with your holey socks?

Toe to toe: markers vs crayons

Ooooo, this is a toughie!

My first thought is to declare markers the winner. These puppies are a joy to color with, and are energy efficient as well. You don't have to expend any extra energy to get add nice vivid colors to your artwork. They glide over the paper so nice like a slug on an oil slick. Goodbye hand cramps. But......

Crayons are just so darn versatile and they come in a wider selection of colors. You can color lightly or darkly, you can make leaf rubbings, you can press real hard and make a picture and then cover the picture in black paint and make some super neat things to hand on the fridge. You can even make your own multicolored carbon paper. And they melt. Yup, crayons are really cool.

Winner: Crayons.... unless the markers are scented, then it's a toss up

There's something nice and solid about good old fashioned bar soap. It always leaves behind a clean fresh scent. And this stuff is cheap too. And lasts forever, unless you accidently leave it behind in a tub full of water.

I like the variety of scents the liquid wash comes in. I turns the every day, same ol' same ol' shower into a tropical experience. I can just hear the ukulele lazily strumming in the background while the scent of coconut and orchids envelopes me.
